Astor Film Lounge.

If you’re looking for a decadent and luxurious movie watching experience, look no further than the Astor Film Lounge in Berlin’s Ku’Damm district.

Astor Film Lounge

A girlfriend and I headed there one Sunday evening to watch a movie and as we comfortably settled into our reclining leather chairs and sipped our champagne, we were overcome with a feeling of absolute bliss. We didn’t want to leave and the movie hadn’t even started yet!

The Astor Film Lounge is the very first theatre in Berlin and even in all of Germany to be graced with the title of “film lounge” as it offers a unique premium movie watching experience. Here you can watch your standard Hollywood programing in German and even broadcasts of classical opera.

As soon as you arrive, you can let your worries melt away. A doorman greets you, a valet takes your car and someone else hands you a glass of champagne while you check your coat.

Walking into the next room, we viewed some of the food and drinks on offer. Astor Film lounge serves up an extensive wine and cocktail menu as well as finger food like typical antipasto items like cheese, bread and cold cuts.

Entering the shell shaped theatre that still maintains it’s Art Deco design and vintage movie house vibe, we squealed in delight upon seeing the big leather chairs and ample leg room. Even the tallest of people can sit back and relax without feeling cramped.

The VIP treatment continued as wait staff came to our seats to take our food and drink orders. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they offer one of my favourite cocktails, the “Hugo” containing elderflower, Prosecco and a bit of mint. Yummy!
