Yes it’s that time again! The January edition of Berlin Fashion Week starts tomorrow – coats are being pressed, nails varnished and shoes polished across the city in anticipation of the big event. One of Germany’s most significant events, Fashion Week will welcome 200,000 attendees, including exhibitors, buyers and media from across the globe to launch this year’s hottest fashions for spring/summer 2017.
Fashion Week is held at various locations across the city and there are showrooms and trade platforms as well as 70 fashion shows and the fashion fairs – Premium Exhibition, Panorama, Show & Order, Bright, Seek und Selvedge Run, the Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin.
Most of Fashion Week is industry only events or invitation only, but there are always fun things on the for the public too! VinoKilo presents an alternative fashion show on Friday at 10am showcasing some of the thousands of vintage pieces they have restored and there will be a kilo sale afterwards at 3pm.
This year there is a new addition with a retail shop for customers at Kaufhaus Jandorf, open to the public and offering exclusive design pieces available for immediate sale.
Hamburg fashion label Kluntje will present a pop up shop featuring its sustainable fashion with the unique concept of words in northern dialect printed on the pieces. The store will be open Friday from 10am till 2pm.
There is also an exhibition from 2nd year fashion design students of Lette Verein Berlin/College of Design. ‘EinBlick’ opens on Friday at 2pm and entry is free.
