Street Art at Urban Nation Museum

The impossible has been realised with what is considered to be the largest indoor street museum in the world opening recently in Berlin. Urban Nation Museum For Urban Contemporary Art opened on Sept 16th and under the creative Directorship of Yasha Young, will showcase some of the very best urban art from across the globe.

Many of Berlin’s large scale street art works have been transforming the facades of the city’s grandest buildings under the tutelage of Urban Nation since 2013 and the city is known for it’s innovative and open approach to outdoor artistic expression. The museum will exhibit a unique collection of works curated by a team of international scouts.

Unlike the typical museum experience, many of the works will be presented on the surfaces of the Wilhelmian era building and incorporated into the architecture. Access will be through innovative viewing catwalks and platforms to allow the visitor to see the works from different perspectives.

Urban Nation Museum aims to connect artists and art lovers in a contemporary setting through exhibitions, workshops and events. The list of artists featured is extensive and in many cases the works may be recognised before the names. Street Art may classically be thought of in the context of graffiti but the genre is more broad reaching than that.

The works in the museum encompass a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, illustration, animation, photography, sculpture, hand lettering, pasting, collage, tattoos AND graffiti.
