The Artwork of Junior Toscanelli.

Junior Toscanelli Artwork

The work of German artist Junior Toscanelli can be seen throughout the Hotel Concorde. It figures prominently not only in the lobby and hallways but also in all 267 rooms and 44 suites.

The very first time I entered the hotel and toured some of the suites and rooms, I found myself impressed with the various images. I wondered just who Junior Toscanelli was and how he came to be connected to the Hotel Concorde.

The esteemed artist was born in Siegberg, Germany in 1971. He received his masters from the Art Academy of Düsseldorf in 1998 and won two prestigious prizes including the Otto-Dix-Prize and Dorothea von Stetten Art Prize. The Otto-Dix-Prize is awarded by the city of Gera annually to up-and-coming young artists and the Dorothea Von Stetten Art Prize is given to promising artists who have yet to make it on to the international stage,

Since then Toscanelli has gone on to win numerous other prizes and has taken part in exhibitions all over Europe, North America and Asia.

Junior Toscanelli’s work has been featured in the hotel since it’s opening. In fact, the large scale oil paintings and collages appearing in the public areas were especially commissioned for the owner who’s always had a close connection to the local arts community.

Later on when the hotel celebrated it’s fifth anniversary, it was only natural to add more of his work to all of the rooms and suites. These modern art pieces tied perfectly into the hotel’s French theme and are a reflection of Toscanelli’s personal interpretation of France.
